Team London Bridge wins ‘London in Bloom’ and ‘Britain in Bloom’ awards

Congratulations to Team London Bridge (TLB) for winning two prestigious awards for its work in creating and managing precious green spaces in our area. In July, London in Bloom judges braved the rain to explore the London Bridge district and were shown the area’s richness of small parks, gardens and living walls, including Gibbon’s Rent Secret Garden,© the Orchard Lisle Living Wall and Holyrood Street Kiosk. New highlights on this year’s trail included the revamped Queen Elizabeth Gardens and over 2,000 new plants transforming Druid Street. The tour was repeated on a sunny day in August, when the Britain in Bloom judges came to town.

W were delighted to hear that TLB was awarded the London in Bloom Gold – Best in Category award , and went on to win Silver-Gilt at the national Britain in Bloom awards in October.

As the Business Improvement District (BID) for the area, TLB’s vision is ” to make London Bridge one of the most sustainable, culturally innovative and compelling places for business and tourism in the world”. Sustainability and the health and wellbeing of the community are central to its horticultural efforts. In addition to considering factors like biodiversity and air quality during the design phase, cargo bike transport is used over motorised deliveries wherever possible, and waste is reduced by using reclaimed plants and materials.

You can explore the area’s parks and green spaces yourself by following the Green Space Trail, available at atlondonbridge.com, where you can also find plenty of ideas for enjoying culture, places to eat and events around the area.
