Make Music Day – Celebrate the Joy of Music
We round off our celebratory weekend on Sunday June 21st with a fun afternoon of free music performances.
Make Music Day is an international festival of music-making which takes place in cities around the world on June 21st every year.
This year, we’re delighted to welcome back the Big Summer Wind Orchestra and Choir, a huge ad hoc gathering of hundreds of wind-instrument players and singers of all abilities assembling on Potters Fields Park for a spectacular performance. The programme features folk songs, classical and musical theatre favourites, and some big pop numbers – with all music selected so that everyone can join in and experience the joy of music.
The afternoon starts at mid-day with performances from Morley College’s Tutors Jazz Band and vocal group The Kenningtones. After the orchestra’s performance, the celebrations end with a joyous performance at 16.30 from Kineteca Bloco, a youth music charity with an exuberant mix of young brass and woodwind players, drummers, steel pan and dancers, all in costume.
Supported by Team London Bridge.
